We were sent out for training this day, Master Flintlock dragged us to one of the poorer districts of town and told us to find ‘something’ he’d hidden in a building. We had no luck at all; Master Flintlock claimed he took us to the wrong building. However, while we were preparing to return, there was an earthquake, and the floor of the building we were in collapsed. We ended up in an abandoned part of the sewers, filled with creatures that can’t walk the streets of Baldur’s Gate.

Nobody’s been able to help us, although Master Flintlock, we believe, knows our location. Instead, we have spent two whole days fighting with the creatures down here; we’re trying to sleep for a second night in order to replenish our energies. The fighting has been horrific. We live, but have come close to death many times. Still, we have prevailed with the help of Ilmater, and it’s my hope that our suffering makes the city that little bit safer for others. Food is running short, but at least we are safe for the moment. All we need is to find a way out of here. I’m hoping we can find a second hidden door, one leading out, but there may be none — these tunnels look as if they might have been closed off by more modern remodeling of some of the homes in the area. In this case, ‘more modern’ means ‘less than two centuries ago’ as well as ‘falling apart’. Who knows? Perhaps some of these walls can simply be knocked out.
